Photograph of a group at Bassett's Hut, Waiohine Valley, Tararua Ranges, taken Easter 1915 by Surveyor Hubert Earle Girdlestone. Group consists of Girdlestone's tramping companions Cyril Woods and George Moir, and two deer stalkers who had stayed with them in the hut on the previous night. Pack horse and gig in photograph belong to the stalkers. Tramping party was on two day trip from Greytown to Otaki via the Mount Hector track.
