D Class steam locomotive, "D" 137 (2-4-0T), Gear Company, Locomotive No. 2. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber in 1901. An old "A" Class locomotive is visible centre left. Built by Scott Brothers, Christchurch in 1887, went into service in 1888 and was sold in 1901. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd, p 47. A note in Godber Album vol 108, page 14, says this locomotive was still running in November 1962. Quantity: 1 b&w original negative(s)....
