"K" 96, K class steam locomotive, 2-4-2 type, at the Petone railway workshop, photographed between 1900-1928 by A P Godber. A print from this negative is at PA1-q-101 (Godber Album vol 108, page 24.) "K" 96 was built in 1878 (maker's no. 2473/78) by Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works, New Jersey; went into service in November 1878 and was written off in May 1922.
