The imaginary interior of a Roman prison, with beams, and stairways Focillon 24 Work is inscribed in pencil by a previous owner or dealer '3rd state'. This is incorrect. The work is probably the 7th state (mid-1760s to early 1770s) or possibly the 8th state (early 1770s). See Robison, Andrew.
