A man with a mine detector leans over the side of his boat trying to locate WW2 mines that they fear could be activated by magnetic or acoustic activity. Their search ends suddenly as a boatload of raucous young people with deafening music set off a bomb and are lifted high out of the water. Refers to the search for a World War 2 minefield believed to have been laid off the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour on Banks Peninsula.
