The barque "Pamir" under full sail, taken by John Dobree Pascoe ca 1940s The Pamir first arrived in Wellington in July 1941, and made many voyages under the New Zealand flag in the 1940s. She was lost in the mid-Atlantic with all of her crew in 1957. (Information from 'Fresh about Cook Strait: an appreciation of Wellington Harbour'. New Zealand : Methuen, 1984, by Grahame Anderson.)
