Shows the two-masted sailing ship in full sail, flying a red ensign at the right. Its name is shown painted on the stern. Land and a high promontory can be seen in the distance, behind three other vessels (two sail and one steam). There are more than one vessels with the name "Shepherdess". This is likely to be the one weighing 50 tons, one which first visited Wellington in 1850. Samuel Bowler may have been the master of the ship at this time, being registered as such in 1853, and changed to...
