Mrs Joyce Carter taking a class in the new school building, Taita Central School. With her is teacher, Mrs Joan Latimer. Photographed by an Evening Post staff photographer on the 23rd of September 1980. Most of Taita Central School had been destroyed by fire 19 months previously. Children were sent to other schools, then from July 1980 the school had operated in prefabs. In September two new classroom blocks, an administration area, a dental clinic, and a medical room opened for use
