Description

A cabbage tree to the left, with a fern or juvenile tree fern sprouting at its foot, a small rocky stream, bush on the far side of the stream and a high peaked hill, possibly intended to be Mount Kaukau, lit by sunrise or sunset in the background. Gold was resident in Wellington from 1847 to 1857, but the exact location of his residence and hence of this view, is not known.
