Electric locomotive "Ed" 101, built by the English Electric Company in 1937. Photograph taken by New Zealand Railways. This image is a film negative taken by Albert Percy Godber from a print in his album Vol 108, p 103 (PA1-q-101) Inscriptions: Album page - bottom centre - English Electric Company. 2-8-4. N.Z.R. "Ed" 101 was built in England, and sent to New Zealand as a prototype for seven more which were to be built in NZ, for use on the Wellington to Paekakariki line
