A clearing in bush at Te Ngutu o te Manu, Taranaki, showing Gustavus von Tempsky falling to his death after being shot, his sword in his hand. Another dead soldier lies on the ground to the left, while others remain fighting and a group carries away a wounded man on a stretcher in the right background. Maori are in the bush in the left foreground. The Library holds the original oil on which this image is based at D-016-013 The lithographer, W. P. is likely to be William Potts Other Titles...
