In 1980 Mt St Helens awakens after 123 years. The eruption in Skamania County, Washington, USA, disrupted the lives of thousands and changed more than 200 square miles of rich forest into a grey, lifeless landscape. The Mt St Helens video plays in the Volcanoes gallery at Auckland Museum (see http://www.aucklandmuseum.com/volcanoes), open daily from 10am-5pm.
