Photograph taken by Frederick James Halse, shows bush-covered gully and large wooden houses, including one with a turret which was built for Sir James Prendergast, Chief Justice of New Zealand. Source of further descriptive information - location identified as Kinross Street by library client, previously guessed to be Bolton Street. The house on the left with a turret was built for Sir James Prendergast, (he moved to wellington in 1867) Chief Justice of New Zealand, he died on 27 Feb. 1921...
