Description

James Gillham, service number 54131 This portrait shows Private James Gillham of the 28th Reinforcements, NZEF. James attested for military service on 20 April 1917. He was 23 years  old, and had been an inmate of His Majesty's Reformatory,  Invercargill  for two years. James was  born in London on 18 March 1894. He arrived in Wellington  in 1913, working as a ship's steward.  He 'jumped ship', and found a place to live in Holloway Road
