A four masted sailing barque the Nal berthed at Kings Wharf (Railway Wharf). Nal, formerly the Lord Ripon, was a 4-masted steel barque built in 1892 and originally owned by J Herron and Co, Liverpool. She was sold in 1898 to Rhederei Visurgis AG, Bremen, and was renamed Nal, visiting Auckland in February 1909, the largest sailing ship to ever have entered the port.
