Analyses s 14 of The Children, Young Persons and Their Families (Youth Courts Jurisdiction and Orders) Amendment Act 2010, which extends the jurisdiction of the Youth Court to 12 and 13 year old serious and recidivist offenders. Explores the intentions of Parliament in drawing up this amendment. Concludes that the Family Court is still the appropriate place to deal with child offenders and that strengthening the Family Court would benefit children more than remving them to the Youth Court.
