Memorials at Wairoa. The one on the foreground is inscribed: A Memento of Affection From European and Māori Friends To the Memory of Thomas Carroll October 19th 1904 'Lest we forget.' There is an inscription in Māori on other face. Behind is a monument topped with a figure in soldier's uniform carrying a bible and with the dedicatory text: For God, King and Country.
