Description

Showing a plough presented to the Old Colonists Museum in 1926 by Miss C Kemp of Kerikeri. At the time it was thought to have been the first plough brought to New Zealand and to have been used by the Reverend John Butler at Kerikeri and later by James Kemp and family. In fact this plough was manufactured by Alfred Sparke of Norwich (see 4-1511C) whose foundry was established in 1836 (or 1845). The whereabouts of John Butler's plough, if it survives, are not known.
