Description

Scene of devastation on Tarawa after bitter resistance ended in Japanese defeat. With the help of a bulldozer a large field-gun is pulled ashore from a landing barge at Bougainville in the Northern Solomons. The Bougainville landing is an important step forward in the drive through the Solomons toward the main Japanese base at Rabaul.
