- Description
Examines the New Zealand English loan words associated with the domain of Pacific Island immigration in NZ, along with terms that have developed due to the Samoan presence in NZ in particular. Suggests that lexical terms borrowed from the Pacific Island languages are not common in everyday society and raises the question as to whether the use of borrowed terms is merely a form of code-switching to suit a Pacific Island audience.
