Remount Depot, World War 1. Horses, tents, visitors, spectators. Bell tents had been phased out by 1916, at least at Trntham Camp. Horses at the World War 1 remount depot situated along present-day Gibbons Street, down to the current Riverbank Road. Leonard John Danahay and Captain Tilley impressed horses from the Wairarapa to be trained at the Remount Depot before going to Palestine.
