Description

The 'Leader' of August 23, 1967 covered the opening of Evans's Upper Hutt branch. One anecdote; the company was founded by an ex-Navy man, who didn't spot the granny knots in the artwork for their sales dockets (and 'Naval' sheet labels?) until they were printed. Evans's moved to No. 128-130 in August 1991, and closed in Upper Hutt in December 2003. In May 1995 the company had branches in Coastlands, Newtown, Palmerston North, Porirua, and Upper and Lower Hutts.
