Almost 20 years of visiting prisoners at Rimutaka Prison and helping their families by Sister Mary Constance of St Joseph's Convent was recognised by a Queen's Service Medal in the 1995 New Year Honours. Printed in colour in the ‘Leader’ on January 9, 1995. She was also pictured in the June 5 'Leader' with her brother, Gerald Cranston, his wife Patricia, and the Governor-General, Dame Catherine Tizard, after the presentation.
