Caption: Darryl Aldersley, the Upper Hutt manager of Beaurepaires. The company was owned by South Pacific Tyres, and sold Dunlop, Goodyear and other brands; it was named after an Australian pre-War Olympic swimmer and tyre retailer, Sir Frank Beaurepaire. The Le Mans 70 pattern, designed by Sumitomo and first introduced in January 1985, was withdrawn not long after the picture was taken; the tread pattern wore down to the bottom of the outer grooves too quickly.
