Caption: When Upper Hutt man Clifford Gribben put a message in a bottle and threw it over the side of the Empire Pride on his way to Japan with the occupying forces in 1946 he did not expect it to be found. However, the lemonade bottle washed ashore three months later at Blue Water Beach 15 miles north of Townsville, Australia and was found by 28-year-old ex-serviceman George Watson.
