Caption: One of Upper Hutt City Council's senior officers is taking to his bike for this Sunday's 50km Karapoti Classic endurance mountain bike race in the Akatarawas. It's Hans van Kregten's third time in the race and this year he is the only council staff member competing, although he hasn't been the only one in past races. Printed in greyscale in the ‘Leader’ on March 3, 1999.
