Description

Pupils at Brown Owl School helped Mayor Rex Kirton plant his 21st Arbor Day tree as mayor in June 1998. The tree was one of 15 oaks and over 100 natives which were planted in the reserve by council staff, contractors and students from the primary school. Mr Kirton told the students how that morning he had done some research on the internet and had discovered that it was the world's 126th Arbor Day.
