Description

The carcass of a stranded blue whale on the beach by Katikara Stream, Tataraimaka, taken on 6 December 1892. There are a number of men standing around the whale and six standing on top of the body. The whale's remains were boiled and the bones taken to Pukekura Park where they decayed away.; Gelatin half plate
