Description

Joe Tupuhi holds his grandson Rapson during a 2006 visit by members of Ngāti Pāoa to their ancestral land at Maungawhau (Mt Eden) in Auckland. The Status of Children Act 1969 recognised that in Māori society children are equally precious to all members of their wider family, regardless of their birth parents' marital status.
