Description

Investigates the debate over charter schools, or 'partnership schools kura hourua'. Looks at how they may disrupt NZ's public education system as they are able to receive taxpayer funding while being able to be run for profit with no community representation, with unregistered teachers, and without public scrutiny. Reports on overseas experience of charter schools not accepting disadvantaged children, particularly in Hawai'i and Sweden. Solicits comments from education experts on the issue.
