Description

Reports an adult northern giant petrel observed near a nesting site of white-fronted terns and red-billed gulls at Kaikoura Peninsula on 16 Jan 2012, later found to have predated on several of the other species' chicks. Notes an earlier incident indicating the possibility of adult red-billed gulls being a regular part of the giant petrels' diet.
