In Christchurch AMI Stadium – formerly called Lancaster Park and then Jade Stadium – saw heavy investment in new stands and facilities such as floodlights during the early 2000s. The ground, shown here during a National Provincial Championship game between Canterbury and Wellington in September 2010, was expected to be a major venue for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
