Description

William Frederick Jacob was born in Dublin in 1852, where he received a private education and worked in his father's biscuit factory. In 1882, he made the journey to New Zealand for the benefit of his health, and was "so favourably impressed with the country and climate" that he decided to remain. Jacob purchased a property in Kiwitea, of around 620 acres. He grazed 1500 Romney sheep, and over 100 cattle on the farm.
