The first movies in Feilding were shown in the early 1900's in the Drill Hall where the Civic Centre now stands, 1983. It appears that before 1914 at different times there were several other theatres and some were used as cinemas. One of these was built in 1907/08 by local people. The Lyceum was then built in 1910 by Fuller Haywards and opened on 30th September, 1911. The architect for the building was Mr Hood and the Manager Mr Toomah for Haywards Pictures.
