The growth rate and carcass characteristics of rangy and short conformation types of steers in Angus, Hereford and Beef Shorthorn breeds were compared in two trials (Trials X and XI) at Massey University. Rangy and short type weaner steers were chosen on the basis of visual assessment of conformation by experienced stockmen.
