"The first of the trusses is in position to slack off the blocks. It was held upright by 4 wire grips secured to posts on the two banks. The other three trusses were stayed to the first one each in its turn and finally all were braced both vertically and horizontally together, the wedges adjusted, and primed and dowelled to resist and movements or sliding. - Floodproof? This was our anxious time."; A man works on the truss which is in place.
