Artist's rendition of a Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk fighter flown by Geoffrey Fisken of 14 Squadron RNZAF in the Solomon Islands, circa 1943. P-40 Kittyhawk NZ 3072 was allocated to the RNZAF in 1943. After damage during the ferry flight to New Caledonia, a USAAF unit repaired the aircraft and painted the unit's symbol, a black cat, on the cowling. The aircraft was issued to Pilot Officer Geoffrey Fisken who added 'Wairarapa Wildcat' to the graphic. He shot down several Japanese aircraft in NZ3072...
