The Pocdol Mountains are part of the Bicol arc-- a SE-trending calcalkaline volcanic belt adjacent to the Philippine Trench. Recent volcano-stratigraphic studies and five new K-Ar ages have delineated seven lithostratigraphic units in the Pocdol Mountains.
