Description

The stationery bastion or fort cannon outside the Custom House was made in Scotland in 1813, and probably was brought to NZ for use in the land wars of the 1860s. The Minister of Defence Richard Seddon presented it to Hokitika in 1894. The Custom House itself was erected in 1897, at a cost of £400. It replaced an old wooden structure, which h...
