More than a hundred years of New Zealand's cinematic history is stored in the New Zealand Film Archive (now Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision) vault near Wellington. Here deputy vault manager Richard Falkner checks the collection, which included 18,000 reels of film and about 40,000 videotapes when it opened in 2011. Previously, the Film Archive's ever-growing collection was held at two Wellington sites which were vulnerable to earthquake damage.
