Microscope, 'Society of the Arts' type, compound monocular, metal / glass / wood, possibly made by S Maw, Son & Thompson, London, England, [1855-1877], used by Dr I Lovegrove, New Zealand, [1877-1910] This is a compound monocular microscope encased in a wooden carry box. The microscope has a claw foot base and a bar-limb construction, sub-stage concave mirror, sub-stage wheel of stops and a sliding mount on the stage.
