This is another example of a dress without a known history. It is a very striking dress in black devoré silk velvet, lined with chiffon, is from the high point of ‘flapper’ fashions in evening wear, circa 1927. Skirts were at their shortest, often exposing the knee but asymmetrical and uneven hemlines were common, confusing the height issue.
