Description

This early 1930s dress mixes navy blue silk georgette with a leaf pattern net lace in the same colour. Curving lace inserts on the skirt and sleeve and the extravagant pointed lace collar panels that surmount the bodice call to mind the art deco architecture of the time. A sparkling diamante brooch that accents the throat is a further nod in this direction. The dress would have been worn with aslip and a belt but neither came into the Museum with it.
