The plates were normally fitted to city promotion manager Paul Lambert's car, but would be used by the mayor before the rally, and by Alan during the rally. South Pacific Tyres had begun in 1946 as Dunlop New Zealand Limited, and still made Dunlop tyres; the factory closed in December 2006. A colour image was printed in the Upper Hutt Leader on 16/10/2002.
