Description

A-class 4-6-2 locomotive No. 600 heading a northbound suburban passenger train off the east end of the Silverstream railway bridge in 1953. The locomotive was built by A.& G. Price of Thames and entered service on 19 February 1914. It was withdrawn and written off in December 1957. The bridge was the second at this location; it was built in 1903 and was last used by rail traffic on 20 November 1954
