Description

Mangaroa railway station; a view to the west. Photograph taken in the early 1950s when the old railway across the Mangaroa Valley was still in use. The station was originally named 'Mungaroa'; the name was changed to 'Mangaroa' on 19 July 1909. The section of line on which this station was sited was opened in December 1877 and closed on 29 October 1955. (Information - Brian Pearce).
