Description

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) can remain undiagnosed until in an advanced, and sometimes lethal, state. It is often preceded by a potentially malignant lesion, which may manifest as a white patch 'leukoplakia' of the oral mucosa. Previous research has implicated an association between the presence of Candida albicans and the progression of leukoplakias to OSCC.
