Description

At least 8 ships were wrecked a t the Auckland Islands, one of New Zealand’s subantarctic islands between 1864 and 1907 as they travelled on the wind assisted ‘Great Circle’ trading route. The human will to live and tenacity of the castaways is fascinating and many historic sites exist on the island in memory of them.
