Description

This private hotel was built in 1929 by Hannah Clark and was originally called the 'Armidale'. Part of the Maidstone Mall was later built on the site. Hannah worked very hard as the hotel had 18 rooms and she did all the washing and cooking - an almost endless job with very little time to herself; she would only have male boarders.
