Description

A scan of a photograph of Robert William Gourlay of Tuturau, husband of Toke Mere Reko. Robert was born in Anstruther, Scotland in 1846 and sailed to New Zealand in 1864 on the 'Brechin Castle'. He married Toke Mere Reko in 1876 and they farmed Toke's family's land at Tuturau. They had 11 children. Robert died in 1923 aged 76 and is buried near his wife in the family urupa known as Pikiraki, at Tuturau.
